In an attempt to appeal to the largest market, Archos will unveil a new phone at the IFA with an option of either Android or Windows 10 Mobile. The phone will have "almost" identical hardware depending on the OS and have one of two model names - 50 Cesium with Windows 10 Mobile or 503 Helium with Android.
The hardware specs reveal a budget-friendly configuration:
  • OS: Windows 10 Mobile (Cesium); Android 5.1 (Helium)
  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 210
  • System RAM: 1GB
  • Storage: 8GB
  • Display: 5-inch (1280 x 720)
  • Cameras: Front - 2MP; Rear - 8MP
  • Battery: 2,100 mAh
Archos believes this offering provides the most choice to the prospective buyer, according to CEO Loic Poirier:
"By providing a choice between two almost identical hardware models, we allow the customer to focus on what they like on the inside: the user interface. Android and Windows are both fantastic and provide varied software experiences."
The phones will be available on November 15 of this year for £99 and shown at the IFA in Berlin on September 4.
