Android 6.0 Marshmallow will begin rolling out late September to devices and Motorola is now reported to sign a deal for the latest Android software. Devices up in the queue for the Marshmallow update are Motorola's Moto X Style, Moto X Play and Moto X Pure Edition.

Motorola's 5.7-inch Moto X Pure Edition, an unlocked version of the Moto X Style, is set to release on September 3 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

According to a Motorola executive, the tech firm is on the verge of preparing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Moto X Style and Moto X Play in cooperation with mobile carriers Verizon Wireless and AT&T. Previous reports already point out that flagship smartphones 2015 Moto G, 2014 Moto G, and 2013 Moto G are also bound for the update ahead of Motorola's other devices.

Although September is the rollout debut of Marshmallow, sources tell that these Motorola devices will be receiving the update by late 2015 or before the year ends. Currently. Google's own Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player are used for Android 6.0 Marshmallow developer preview which is now on its third and final stage. The update test comes through a software development kit (SDK) which comprises of system images, tools and library files needed for smoother performance.

Google's upcoming two 2015 Nexus 5 handsets made by LG and Huawei are expected to wear Marshmallow out of the box. Samsung meanwhile is slated to commence the update to flagship phones Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6. LG's G4, G3 and G2 are also reported to pioneer the update. HTC has not been reported to keep up with fuss but is expected to follow suit.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will have new additions to roster of features like battery saver named Doze, search bar on settings menu, app permissions, app linking, custom Chrome tabs, supports for Android Pay, fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C.
